A Book I've Been Waiting For

Currently Reading -- Unrooted Childhoods: Memoirs of Growing Up Global -- this just arrived in the latest mail, and I can hardly keep my hands off it! Authors include Isabel Allende, Pat Conroy, Pico Iyer, and Ruth Van Reken. Once I'm done with the book, I'll let you know what I think.

Wow, scary topic for me right now! It looks fascinating, though. Please let me know what you think-- it will be interesting to hear your viewpoint and how the essays relate to your own experiences.

Thank you for the visit earlier today.

I've browsed your blog a bit. I like the eclectic postings.

I see you hoave Powell's on your links. GREAT store!

Take care!

So happy I found your blog, Laurie! I'm an MK/PK, too. Went to boarding school all 12 years, had a monkey plus other menagerie of pets, too. Read your blog 'cover to cover'. Enjoyed it immensely. You have a neat writing style. I'm going to see if I can get my hands on the book you just bought. Have you read Third Culture Kids: The Experience of Growing Up Among Worlds by David Pollock & Ruth E Van? Probably along the lines of the book you just got.

Laurie, I've been back to Indonesia only once since '79 but like you said, all I have to do is close my eyes and I'm there. We've both been blessed with fascinating childhoods.
