A Riveting Read

Yesterday, I saw a young girl of about ten following her father down the street. She wasn't paying any attention to where she was going, because she had her nose in a book.

Can I just say -- that was me, quite a few years ago??? Surprised I didn't end up running into stop signs and falling off sidewalks.

Sadly, today's kids (at least in the U.S.) walk around with their noses in their cell phones. And yes, they do walk into posts, or step off curbs unintentionally.

That's great. Don't you just love that? I was always reading too and tried to read and walk, or read in the car at night -even when it was too dark and I could only read a few words as we passed the street lights.

This little girl was too cute! She just looked at me when I said "Must be an extra-good book," smiled, and kept on walking and reading.
