The Sembach Group

Laurie, Angela, and Chris at The Alte Schmiede Restaurant

Angela, Chris, Norma, and I meet monthly to talk about writing, critique manuscripts, share a meal, and catch up on each other's lives. These women have helped keep me sane since I moved away from my extensive network of friends and fellow writers in Oregon four years ago! Two of the original members, Sondy and Marta, have returned to the US, but we keep in touch via email and blogs.

See Angela's blog for more news of our group. Between us, we write young adult and mid-grade novels, picture books, poetry, humor and travel essays, science fiction, and more. Something for everyone.

It is so nice to have friends who share your interests. I have always had friends, I suppose, but I love to get together with my crafty friends. there is just some sort of bond that comes from being with people who understand what you love.

Beth,
You're right, it makes me happy to get together with these women--always something to laugh about!

Judy,
So true. Folks are supportive, but there really is a bond when we share a common passion (our group also shares a love of chocolate and of Dutch cheese).

¡Hi Laurie!
It is a very nice photo.
I desire that you and your fiends could see you soon and enjoy again .

Oooo! I peeked at Angela's blog and saw that you had more to celebrate than just getting together again. Illustrations? How exciting! I'm thrilled for you and can't wait to see it when it comes out.

Carmiña,
Thank you. Friends are great (and worth driving an hour or more to see)!

Heather,
I'd love to see your book when it comes out too! If you're ever around Heidelberg, stop in.
